Steer Clear of Rome's Tourist Traps & Eat Like a Local
USE CODE “ROME33” AT CHECKOUT TO SAVE 1/3

Your time in Rome is too precious to waste on underwhelming and overpriced food. Our Trastevere Food Tour steers you clear of the tourist traps, feeding your curiosity as you try at least 12 types of food and wine and get a real taste of Rome!

Your Rome Food tour through Trastevere starts in the picturesque Piazza Mastai, where you’ll meet your guide and get to know your group. There’s a reason this tour has won multiple awards; it’s a seamless, priority service experience where everything is reserved, pre-arranged, and ready when you arrive. We handle the logistics so you can savour the experience. Want a more intimate local experience with no strangers? We now offer an exclusive semi-private Rome food tour for groups of 6 or fewer.

You’ll follow an expert guide through Trastevere, home to some of Rome’s culinary gems. We’ll start the Rome Food Tour at a family-run business that is more of a local institution than a traditional deli, where locals drop in and out to chat with the owners and browse their latest selection.

As we continue our Trastevere food tour, we’ll sample a selection of Italian cheeses, fresh, juicy porchetta, pizza bianca, and full-bodied red wine or non-alcoholic beverages for our sober friends. We provide vegetarian options too! Your guide will fill you up on Rome’s most delicious delights while filling you in on the fun facts behind what you’re tasting and what makes Italian cuisine so special.

Eat like a Local

When in Rome… eat where the Romans do. After a short but scenic walk through Trastevere’s mediaeval cobbled streets, you’ll visit a fried-food bar that specialises in mouthwatering supplì. The next stop is a locally beloved pizzeria where you’ll bite into slices of pizza al taglio that will completely change the way you see Italian pizza. After immersing yourself in the flavour and the history, you’ll take another short, scenic walk to a family-run restaurant that serves traditional Roman pasta dishes like carbonara, amatriciana, cacio e pepe and gricia. But save some space because we’ll finish the tour with something sweet.

No food tour would be complete without creamy, dreamy gelato, so we’ll take you to our favourite gelateria for a cone or cup of pure heaven. Ready for a real taste of Rome? Book now: spaces fill up fast.

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate a gluten-free or vegan diet, but we hope to be able to do so in the future. We have vegetarian options, but it’s always best to let us know about dietary restrictions in advance.

What is included in the tour?

The menu changes depending on the season but you’re guaranteed to have at least 10 different tastings of traditional Roman cuisine paired with some local drinks.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes! This is a family friendly tour, suitable for all ages– and the gelato tends to be a hit with the kids.

Will there be a lot of walking on the tour?

This is primarily a food tour but of course there will be some walking in between our different stops. We’ll go at a relaxed pace and we won’t be walking for more than 10 minutes between stops, but it’s still best to wear comfortable shoes!

Will we get to choose what we eat?

The menu for the tour is mostly predetermined but you will get some choice when it comes to type of wine, pasta sauces, and gelato flavours. If you inform us about allergies or restrictions in advance we can provide alternatives and our local guides are foodies who are passionate about Italian cuisine, so you can trust that they know what to order to satisfy your hunger.

How many people are on the tour?

We try to keep our tours as small and intimate as possible, with a maximum of 15 people per tour.
If you’re travelling with 6 or fewer people, we suggest upgrading to our exclusive semi-private option. You’ll enjoy an upgraded main meat or veggie course, limoncello, personalised attention from your guide, and a more intimate experience with no strangers.

What if I don't eat certain things but I don't have an allergy?

It’s okay to be a picky eater, just please let us know about allergies or restrictions in advance so that we can find a suitable substitute and better accommodate your needs.

Are drinks included on the tour?

During the tour you’ll indulge in local wine and beer or non-alcoholic drinks upon request. We ask guests to bring a reusable water bottle to refill at one of the many water fountains along our route in order to help us reduce waste.

Do I need to speak Italian to enjoy the tour?

Not at all! The tour is entirely in English, led by a fluent local guide.

Do you offer a private tour option?

Yes we do! If you prefer a more personalised experience you can upgrade your booking to a semi-private food tour or fully private experience, perfect for special events like birthdays, anniversaries, or team building events.
