Your time in Rome is too precious to waste on underwhelming and overpriced food. Our Private Rome Food Tour guarantees you’ll steer clear of the tourist traps, feed your curiosity, and satisfy your stomach as you try at least 10 + tastings of authentic Roman cuisine and wine. You’ll get dedicated attention from a private local guide who will grant you insider access to Rome’s best delicatessens, pizzerias, and restaurants.

This multi-award-winning food tour offers a seamless experience with priority service and a curated menu at local eateries, tailored to your private group.

You’ll meet your guide in Piazza Mastai, then wander through Trastevere, starting at a family-run business where you’ll sample a selection of Italian cheeses and fresh, juicy porchetta.

We’ll take the scenic route of the neighbourhood at your own pace, where you’ll savour the flavours of Roman street food like crunchy supplì and pizza bianca before the main course: a crispy bruschetta and authentic pasta in amatriciana sauce paired with full-bodied red wine.

We’ll end your private Rome Food Tour on a sweet note at a local gelateria for a scoop of happiness (or two!) before you go!

Enjoy Rome your way on a personalised food tour of Trastevere!

**We offer vegetarian and alcohol-free options at every stop, but to best accommodate your needs, please inform us of any dietary restrictions in advance.

FAQ

What is included in the tour?

The menu changes depending on the season but you’re guaranteed to have at least 10 different tastings of traditional Roman cuisine paired with some local drinks.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes! This is a family friendly tour, suitable for all ages– and the gelato tends to be a hit with the kids.

Will there be a lot of walking on the tour?

This is primarily a food tour but of course there will be some walking in between our different stops. We’ll go at a relaxed pace and we won’t be walking for more than 10 minutes between stops, but it’s still best to wear comfortable shoes!

Will we get to choose what we eat?

The menu for the tour is mostly predetermined but you will get some choice when it comes to type of wine, pasta sauces, and gelato flavours. If you inform us about allergies or restrictions in advance we can provide alternatives and our local guides are foodies who are passionate about Italian cuisine, so you can trust that they know what to order to satisfy your hunger.

Are there vegetarian options on the tour?

Yes! We offer vegetarian options, though there might be fewer options than the traditional menu. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate a vegan diet or people with coeliac disease. If you have a dietary restriction or allergy please inform us in advance to make sure that we can adequately meet your needs.

How long is the tour?

The tour runs for approximately 3 hours.

Will the tour still run if it rains?

Yes! Fortunately, the weather in Rome is usually on our side, but the tour will run rain or shine. Don’t worry, we’ll be sitting indoors most of the time!

How many people are on the tour?

We try to keep our tours as small and intimate as possible, with a maximum of 15 people per tour.
If you’re travelling with 6 or fewer people, we suggest upgrading to our exclusive semi-private option. You’ll enjoy an upgraded main meat or veggie course, limoncello, personalised attention from your guide, and a more intimate experience with no strangers.

What if I don't eat certain things but I don't have an allergy?

It’s okay to be a picky eater, just please let us know about allergies or restrictions in advance so that we can find a suitable substitute and better accommodate your needs.

Are drinks included on the tour?

During the tour you’ll indulge in local wine and beer or non-alcoholic drinks upon request. We ask guests to bring a reusable water bottle to refill at one of the many water fountains along our route in order to help us reduce waste.

Do I need to speak Italian to enjoy the tour?

Not at all! The tour is entirely in English, led by a fluent local guide.

Do you offer a private tour option?

Yes we do! If you prefer a more personalised experience you can upgrade your booking to a semi-private food tour or fully private experience, perfect for special events like birthdays, anniversaries, or team building events.

Do we get headphones at the stops between restaurants?

Headphones aren’t provided on our tours, except for the Colosseum Arena and Regular Colosseum Tours. If you have hearing difficulties, let your guide know so they can stay close while speaking. You’re also welcome to bring your own hearing device.

Is there a place to store luggage during the tour?

We don’t provide luggage storage. Since the tour is fully on foot, we suggest using a nearby service like Bounce.com for secure and convenient storage while you enjoy the tour.
